Geraldine Gallagher, CFRE, has served as the president of Valencia Foundation since 2002. In her past life, she worked for North Harris College in Houston, the Illinois Department on Aging in Chicago, and Access Chicago, Mature Outlook, Discovery and Houston North magazines.
She received degrees from Northwestern University and has taken post-grad courses at Texas A&M and Our Lady of the Lake universities. She likes school. Geraldine worked her way through undergrad slinging breakfast hash, transcribing insurance claims, hawking gift shop items and custom uphostery, balancing food service budgets and writing/editing magazine articles. She understands why scholarships are so vital for today’s student.
Someday soon she will complete her dissertation on community college philanthropy and earn a PhD in higher education from Capella University.
She was born in Brooklyn, NY, and has lived in Texas and Illinois.
