join team valencia in the walk to support healthy babies

This year, Valencia is supporting the March of Dimes by participating in the March for Babies walk on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Lake Eola.

Each year, more than half a million babies are born prematurely, and more than 120,000 are born with serious birth defects. Right here in Florida, 32,005 babies are born too soon – that is why Valencia is walking together for stronger, healthier babies.

“Our goal is to raise $10,000 to help support the March of Dimes in their mission to improve the health of babies,” said Mike Bosley, executive dean of the Lake Nona Campus and lead on this initiative. “Even something as simple as giving 10 dimes could go a long way in supporting research and programs that help moms in our community have full-term pregnancies and ensure babies get a healthy start.”

Sign up to join Team Valencia and make a donation by clicking here. Collection bottles will be set up at various campus locations in the coming weeks.

By signing up and participating in this walk, employees are eligible for one wellness activity point to go toward the 2013 Wellness Incentive Program. Employees who give $25 or more will also receive a Team Valencia shirt, while supplies last. Please email your registration confirmation to Debi Jakubcin at djakubcin@valenciacollege.edu to be eligible for these two benefits.

The March of Dimes has been supporting stronger, healthier babies for 75 years. Do you have a personal March of Dimes story that you would like to share with the college community? If so, please leave a comment below.

If you have any questions, please contact Mike Bosley at mbosley@valenciacollege.edu or at extension 7007.
